JOYFUL LITTLES

  • Being "musical" isn't a gift reserved for a select few. All children all born with an innate affinity for rhythms and melodies. Children benefit from growing up with the ability to keep a beat, a sensitivity towards music, and an understanding of what the voice can do. Anne infuses this class with her passion for singing and her commitment to nurturing the next generation. We sing a diverse selection of beautiful seasonal music that is also tailored to the specific needs of the children in each group. Anne observes the children's interactions and reactions to the music, integrating the best practices from leading music therapists and educators. Children and caregivers will be singing, tapping, clapping, dancing, and playing instruments. Together, we’ll build a solid foundation in musicality that will enrich our children's future musical experiences and appreciation.

  • Children are encouraged to express themselves freely and move as they wish during class. While babies and younger children may appear passive or distracted to us adults, they are still absorbing the musical experiences internally. It’s important for caregivers to actively sing, move, and participate in all activities to provide a model for the children.

As a parent, I know that in group settings we're tempted to correct our children's behavior or force participation. Try your best to relax and observe your child in this "yes" space. This is a time of musical connection and freedom. You can do what you need to feel comfortable; nurse, cuddle or lend a loving hand to another child. We're here to support one another.

Anne will provide coffee, tea and a light snack. The indoor/outdoor play areas will be open until noon if you would like to stay and connect after class.

SINGING GROUP FOR CAREGIVERS

  • Come join Anne for a laid-back singing group where we learn songs of all kinds by ear, along with some singing tips. You’ll leave feeling uplifted and relaxed, having connected with other parents and caregivers through music. It’s also a great chance to bond with your baby, as we include special songs just for them.

Anne will bring song ideas but as the group evolves we can pick our own music together. It's important for children to see us doing the things we love, so this class is all about you.

  • We'll gather together in a circle and sing songs from a piano. You will receive song sets and lyrics before class. We'll do a light vocal warm up and then spend time singing! Don't worry about your baby or child's behavior, kids are kids. Feel free to feed, nurse, walk around or lend a hand to another parent while we're singing.

Anne will bring tea and a light snack each week, along with a bin of toys and activities for the children. You can bring toys and snacks for your kids to make yourself comfortable, but you’re also welcome to join us even if you’re child-free.

  • This class runs in 8-week sessions throughout the fall, winter, spring and summer.
