Private singing lessons

Grow your natural voice and learn to sing with courage and confidence. It takes vulnerability to share your voice, which is why building a relationship of trust is Anne’s top priority.

“A piano is a piano and a violin is a violin but a voice is a person.”

—Peter Pears

My approach

I will analyze the health and function of your singing habits and then give you specialized tools and exercises to train the muscles and body structures used in singing. Think of yourself as an athlete. You don’t have to be super flexible to start learning yoga, but you do have to learn the moves and practice them to see improvement.

my style

In private lessons, we work from a place of non-judgement. The sounds the voice can make aren’t “good” or “bad,” they are just sounds; there are many kinds depending on what style you’re singing. We discover how the body and voice work to create certain sounds in order to reach your optimal and healthy vocal function.

my goal

Singing is a deeply human experience, yet many people go through life without fully exploring their voices. Singing connects us, releases endorphins, and offers a powerful way to express our emotions. I want everyone to discover the joy of singing.

“I had the pleasure of having Anne Martinez as my middle and high school choir teacher for 4 amazing years. Almost ten years later, I’m lucky to call her a friend and mentor in my own career as a music teacher. Anne is a knowledgeable teacher, a talented vocalist, and a kind and compassionate person. She strives to build lasting relationships with her students and makes them feel safe, seen, and heard. I feel confident to recommend Anne as a voice teacher for all ages and levels. Whether you desire private lessons or a group setting, Anne will provide you with an amazing experience!”
